Cobox came in with a resin-based 3D printer a few days back and now it is finally out with an accessory device called LIFTcell. It is being offered in multiple configurations that offer a wide range of pre and post printing automation features. The 3D printing process is an automatic process, However, what is important is that comes before and after it which is one of the major issues.
Manual labor includes loading, unloading, and post-process prints on every kind of machine. It is one of the biggest barriers that has stood against adoption of this technology on a wider basis especially the manufacturing industry.the manufacturing industry has moved towards automation till last extent. And unless they introduce an element that reduces manual intervention, it wouldn’t be possible to use this technology on a larger scale.
The problem gets worse as the speed of printers increases like the Coobox’s EXIGO 3D printers. You will have to include manual intervention at a rapid pace for unloading the print, resetting it for the next task, top up the resin, clean these, and cure the print quality. Now just imagine how it will be done with a 3D printer or lots of 3D printers when every single one of them finishes prints within half an hour. You may need more than one human operators to handle all these requirements.
The LIFTcell by Coobx addresses this issue pretty well by performing all operations needed on automatic mode. It is a highly essential robotic library or post processor with a capacity to store in around 60 build trays that are attached with 1 and 12 Coobx EXIGO 3D printers. The most basic model of this device is able to attach one or two printers with it. The robotic arm present in the center can easily move the build trays between printers and racks as the task starts and ends. The prints that are finished are then cleaned and cured with extra UV light exposure within this system.
