A cookie is a piece of information from a website that is stored on the requesting computers hard disk used to send state information to the browser and back to the originating website. It can be a record of user’s preferences which can be used later on, or session information serving as tokens attached to each user and may be changed depending on the information provided by the user. These can be simple or encrypted depending on the type of connection i.e. http or https.
