DAC is a device that converts a finite precision digital number into an analog physical quantity like voltage signal. This includes the sampling of digital abstract numbers into sequence of impulses that are reconstructed or interpolated using filters like zero order hold filters to obtain a continuous waveform. Various parameters like maximum resolution, monotonicity, dynamic range of frequencies and sampling frequency rates of the DAC are important in determining its quality and eventually the field of application. It may be of various types like Pulse Width Modulator or R2R ladder or a binary weighted DAC.
