This isn’t the first Home Automation project we have featured. There was this one recently with pcduino and arduino. This fancy one with remote controlled curtains and CFL lights. And this one here called the GPIO Raspberry Pi Home Automation Project. Not only that, one of our readers contributed an in-depth and detailed original DTMF Controlled Home Automation System Using 8951 project.
Perhaps there is a good reason why Home Automation is popular with makers. ‘Home Automation’ isn’t a specific set of tasks or functions. It is anything that automates the many human interactions with the home, which includes the ornamental. Function and Fashion. So there is plenty of room for the makers to contribute towards home automation in their own ways. Indeed, if you check out all the different projects linked above, they are unique and challenging in their own ways.
This one is a node.js based home automation system built with a Raspberry Pi. Watch the eleven minute video below for complete description and details of this project. Even if you are not considering building one anytime soon, the video below is educative and worth the time.
