Bob Davis has come out with an update version of the spider robot, which is quieter and doable. This newer version can now get up completely off the floor with the help of few replacements. Spider 18 DOF Robot Part 2 is an updated version of Arduino Powered Hexapod.
To start with, Arduino Hexapod Robot first part has been designed to use 18 TowerPro MG955/MG996R/LD-1501MG servos for the legs. Replacement of two of its servos has made a remarkable difference to second version of hexapod. It has changed two of the MG996’s to the more powerful MG958’s. Now the spider can walk properly.
When it comes to looks, earlier model have a more natural looking, more articulate leg and body design and same is with the later. No specific changes have been made to the designing.
This robot can walk in any direction since its legs are designed in a manner that has 18 DOF (degree of freedom). It can run, dance, perform and now with more accuracy.
In Arduino Powered Hexapod first part 32 servo controller is used which can simultaneously move with the servo control board 32. Further, the robot is with only 18 servo which help customers to simply choose among 18 interface. As to the first version of robot, sensor shield has been repaired twice and power cable has also been replaced, making it more advance and stable.
The best part about this kit is that it is easy to install and robotics can be learned easily. It includes everything that is required to build the robot. The purchase and installation drawings of the kit parts were sent to an exclusive learning materials
Further, this could be possibly the nicest looking, best performing, commercially available hexapod out there in market
