West Control Solutions Launches MAXVU Rail Device with Dynamic Display and Quick Configuration

By Neha Rastogi

West Control Solutions, the global specialist in process and temperature control, has released a new easy-to-install MAXVU Rail which is easy and quick to configure. It’s a compact device that addresses simple temperature control requirements in a new behind panel format. The control capabilities of the device are accompanied by a transmitter option whereby the measured signal is transmitted back via an analog signal or serial communication for data logging/analysis purposes, or to trigger a particular process.

The device carries a combination of a controller and transmitter highly optimised for a wide range of industrial applications like control of ovens, incubators and chillers; general heat processes such as thermal bonding and hardening; and heating in plastic extrusion.

Owing to its simple configuration, the MAXVU Rail is easy and quick to set up unlike its competitors. The short start-up menu applies default settings as users are most likely to need only vital parameters that need to be set like sensor types, outputs, alarms, and set point values. This implies saving valuable time without needing to change settings or scrolling through unnecessary options.

Discussing the features of the device, it has a unique human-machine interface (HMI) for set-up and commissioning. Unlike a majority of controllers that use 4-digit 7-segment displays, the MAXVU Rail boasts an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) dot matrix display with a resolution of 64 x 48 pixels.

It also supports numbers, text and symbols facilitating users to quickly recognize and understand menu parameters during the configuration. Besides, the clear character definition, this high contrast display is easy to read in a dark control panel, direct sunlight, and a wide range of viewing angles.

For users who don’t wish to use the device keypad, they can avail a PC software option. It’s offered with connectivity via a front configuration port or RS485 Modbus RTU communication module which allows convenient remote monitoring of multiple controllers in large installations. The software programming tool carries a set-up wizard to guide the users. Besides, it also contains a help panel with active description of parameters and multiple language support.

Ian Collins, Product and Marketing Manager, West Control Solutions, commented: “Temperature controllers often have excess functionality that is just not used. As a result we wanted to provide a streamlined solution where customers did not end up paying for things that weren’t required. The MAXVU Rail temperature controller delivers a compelling combination of strong performance, reliability and very fast set-up at an affordable price.”
