IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique numerical address that is assigned to every computing device connected with a TCP/IP network like internet. It helps a device to identify itself as well as to communicate other computing devices over the network. An Internet Service Provider (ISP) assigns every device an IP address which is unique worldwide.
An example of the IP address is 192.164.1.4 which is a 32 bit number. The latest version IPv6 provides a 128 bit long address to every computing device connected with Internet Protocol.
