Waldom spent several days at electronica India talking with global component manufacturers and distributors. The takeaway: the market has momentum, but the supply chain hasn’t caught up.
Global firms are sending senior executives, hiring locally, and widening distribution. Demand spans automotive and EVs, telecom, data infrastructure, industrial, consumer, and renewables. India also wants to build out its component base, from PCBs and passives to connectors and modules.
The friction is inventory. Manufacturers want reach. Customers want speed. Distributors don’t want the working-capital risk of stocking everything, and local logistics are still hard.
Buyers are shifting too. Price still matters, but authenticity and traceability now carry more weight. Yet strict date-code rules still get viable, properly stored parts rejected for age alone.
Waldom’s pitch: don’t flood India with more stock. Route existing authorized global inventory to where demand is growing.
