High-performance, hybrid protection varistors

By Sponsored Content April 1, 2022

Bourns IsoMOV™ Series Hybrid Protection Component are hybrid technology varistors. These varistors combine the surge performance of EdgMOV™ protection devices with an integrated Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) isolation structure to create innovative IsoMOV™ series hybrid protection component. With the combination of these features, the IsoMOV series achieves high performance as a long-life protector with lower capacitance, low leakage, and state-of-the-art energy handling density.

The IsoMOV™ component family includes Model IsoM3, IsoM5, and IsoM8 variants with respective IsoMOV design kits. These devices feature nominal surge ratings of 3kA, 5kA, and 8kA, these revolutionary new protectors offer performance usually found in larger traditional MOV devices. The IsoMOV devices are ideally suited for AC and DC power applications where performance and space savings are required.

Features:

  • High energy handling density
  • Hybrid (MOV+GDT) design
  • Extended temperature range
  • Ring-wave tolerant
  • Low capacitance
  • UL 1449 Type 4 CA
  • RoHS compliant

Applications:

  • AC line protection:
    • White goods
    • Fire alarm systems
    • High value consumer goods
    • LED lighting
    • UL1449 SPD
    • Industrial equipment
  • DC line protection:
    • Solar inverters
    • Power supplies
    • Distribution systems
