CUI Inc has announced the production release of its second solution for unlocking power capacity in data center and networking infrastructure. The ICE switch is a power monitoring and switching system that connects to Virtual Power Systems’ ICE (Intelligent Control of Energy)Software to deliver dynamic redundancy inside a data center. The switch contains two identical modules with up to 50A current per module. It also features hot-swap functionality and a configurable single-phase or three-phase input. The system is housed in a standard 19” 1U package and carries UL/cUL and TUV 60950-1 safety certifications.
CUI’s Power Group has expanded its portfolio of external medical power supplies by introducing a new line of wall plug-in power adapters. The SWM6, SWM6-USB, SWM12, and SWM30 series can be availed with either North American or European input blades. Besides, these are all certifies to the medical 60601-1 edition 3.1 safety standards for 2x MOPP applications and 4th edition EMC requirements. These AC-DC power supplies feature high efficiency, class II construction, and no-load power consumption as low as 0.075 W. With the introduction of this series, CUI aims to offer customers the most efficient global power solutions for medical, dental, and home healthcare equipment.
CUI’s Power Group has recently expanded its low power dc-dc converters profile with the addition of a new 3W isolated units. The PQME3 Series is packed in a compact, industry standard 14 pin surface mount package measuring 0.76 x 0.71 x 0.40 in i.e. 19.20 x 18.10 x 10.16 mm. It provides a rugged, low power solution for a wide array of industrial, test and measurement, and telecommunication application, owing to its encapsulated design. The 3W series is ideally suitable for converting and isolating fluctuating DC voltages. Further, it features 4:1 input ratio ranges of 9 to 36 Vdc and 18 to 75 Vdc, single regulated outputs of 3.3, 5, 9, 12, 15, and 24 Vdc, remote on/off control, as well as 1500 Vdc input to output isolation.
CUI’s Power Group has recently introduced a new lineup of low power, encapsulated AC-DC power supplies to their broad portfolio ranging from 1W to 12kW. The new PSK series is housed in a compact, encapsulated board mount package with industry standard pin-outs. Different models in the series are available with 6, 10, 15, and 20W of continuous power. The compact footprints of these modules measure as small as 2 x 1 x 0.659 inches, i.e. 50.8 x 25.4 x 16.74 mm, in dimension. As far as the applications are concerned, these modules are ideal for low power ITE, consumer electronics, and industrial control applications where board space and environmental contaminants are a concern.
CUI’s Thermal Management Group has announced to expand its existing portfolio of Peltier devices and dc fans by adding a heat sink product line. The new line of aluminum heat sinks is available in both extruded and stamped versions. The range is compatible with TO-218, TO-220, TO-252, and TO-263 transistor packages. These have been designed to improve the heat dissipation of low and high power board level applications. These stampings and extrusions are conveniently measured under 4 conditions for thermal resistance. This facilitates an easy selection of the optimal heat sink for natural convection or forced air cooling systems.

These single output medical power supplies have been designed for energy-conscious, 2 x MPOO (Means of Patient Protection) hospital, home healthcare, and dental applications.

The added series namely VOF-6B, VOF-10B, VOF-15B, and VOF-20B carry 6, 10, 15, and 20 W of power. This makes the existing general purpose ac-dc power supply portfolio range from 6W to 300W. The new offerings are housed in compact and board mount packages measuring 1.913 x 0.917 x 0.638 inches or 48.6 x 23.3 x 16.2 mm in dimensions. These models feature industry standard pin-outs, 4 kVac isolation, and no-load power consumption less than 100 mW. This makes them ideal for low power ITE, industrial, space-constrained, consumer, and smart home applications.

Apart from delivering an ideal mix of economy and power, the single output power supply series delivers efficiencies up to 94% and no-load power consumption as low as 0.3 W for energy-conscious ITE, industrial, and consumer electronics applications.
CUI Inc’s Power Group has recently expanded the DoE Level VI and CoC Tier 2 compliant external power supplies portfolio with the addition of 30W and 40W desktop ac-dc power adapters. All the models in the series, viz. SDI30-U, SDI30-UD, SDI40-U, and SDI40-UD have been designed while keeping in mind the current average efficiency and no-load power requirements made mandatory by the US Department of Energy (DoE) under the Level VI standard. Moreover, all these models also comply with the European Union’s (EU) proposed CoC Tier 2 directive, under review to become law in 2018. It further aims to tighten the efficiency requirements enforced by Level VI yet adding a new power consumption limit at 10% load levels.
